I spoke of using Win 748 in a recent reply to WWilson. Its a good powder for 40 grain to 75 grain bullets in the .223 Remington. It meters well and always ran clean for me. Going above 75 grain bullets you would be better suited with a slower powder.
I had something happen to me with VP-60's that if it didn't happen to me I never would believe it to be true. I was shooting a handicap and had a squib load, there couldn't have been any powder because it was one of those completely silent non-event
Xtell, Thanks for the advise on the 748. I am picking up some shotgun powder from our club's wholesaler tomorrow and have been considering 748, now I'll grab a pound and see how it shoots. Thanks, Wayne
We plan on driving to a good spot and shooting from portable benches and driving to another spot - just as you describe. I can't wait to get there and let the games begin! Wayne
