wwillson Posted March 3, 2010 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 All,I read a good article last night about the .44 Russian. I learned that the parent case of the .44 Russian is the .44 S&W American. The .44 S&W American was used in the Smith & Wesson Model 3 staring circa 1869. G-MAN Posted September 25, 2010 Report Share Posted September 25, 2010 The .44 S&W American is the archetype and was the progenitor of the .44 S&W Russian, the .44 S&W Special, and the .44 Magnum. The big difference between the .44 American is that it used a heeled bullet, and all it's descendants don't.
