  1. My reasoning may not be perfect on the subject, but I believe that if the bullet opens up in a low density material such as water, it should, with a high probability, open up in flesh. I state probability since putting someone down with a handgun is really an iffy business. Empirical studies show that even the best combination of gun, ammo, caliber, and shooting can only do it about 68% of the time for a one shot stop. Start adding in other variables and the chances of a one shot stop goes way down. My weapon of choice is a 12 gauge pump with slugs inter-spaced with #8 shot. Its just kinda hard to carry one of those concealed in Texas and not be noticed. Dan
  2. If there are so many Californians here, maybe we should convert the board to Spanish???<--grin-->
  3. #10. Guns can be traded in #9. You can shot the lazy lump on your couch #8. If you have a rifle, the handgun wont feel betrayed #7. Handguns can actually compliment that new motorcycle #6. A handgun doesn't mind if you ask for directions #5. A handgun doesn't smell of beer if you give it a night off #4. No handgun would feel unloved if it had to sleep on the shelf for a week #3. Handguns only cause drama when they are used on accident #2. Handguns stay good looking for many years And, finally, the number one reason for women to prefer handguns... #1. ~*~ Guns dont hog the remote ~*~
  4. #10 - YOU CAN TRADE AN OLD 44 FOR A NEW 22. #9 - YOU CAN KEEP ONE HANDGUN AT HOME, AND HAVE ANOTHER FOR WHEN YOU'RE ON THE ROAD. #8 - IF YOU ADMIRE A FRIEND'S HANDGUN, AND TELL HIM SO, HE WILL PROBABLY LET YOU TRY IT OUT A FEW TIMES. #7 - YOUR PRIMARY HANDGUN DOESN'T MIND IF YOU KEEP ANOTHER HANDGUN FOR A BACK UP. #6 - YOUR HANDGUN WILL STAY WITH YOU EVEN IF YOU RUN OUT OF AMMO. #5 - A HANDGUN DOESN'T TAKE UP A LOT OF CLOSET SPACE. #4 - HANDGUNS FUNCTION NORMALLY EVERY DAY OF THE MONTH. #3 - A HANDGUN DOESN'T ASK, "DO THESE NEW GRIPS MAKE ME LOOK FAT?" #2 - A HANDGUN DOESN'T MIND IF YOU GO TO SLEEP AFTER YOU USE IT. And, the number one reason a handgun is favored over a woman... #1 - YOU CAN BUY A SILENCER FOR A HANDGUN !!!
  5. Did you know Tiger Woods has changed his name? its now Cheata Woods.... Dan
  6. The Desert Eagle hardly kicked. It was so heavy I could barely hold it up and its sheer mass damped the recoil. My Officer's ACP colt is tougher to shoot. I really would love to shoot a .475 Widley though. Like Charlie did. Dan
  7. You guys have got me beat, I have never measured any 45 I have reloaded. Just checked with a caliper against a factory round, set the die and started reloading. Made over 20k rounds and never had a problem. (Took lots of years and lots of shooting) Dan
  8. Mine was a .50 caliber out of an IMI Desert Eagle. Dan
  9. I did an experiment. I have pool that is 4 feet deep. Shot a couple of the 45 hydrashock into the pool. Both were shot out of a commander size gun, so velocity was lower than with full size. They didnt even dent the bottom of the pool. In WATER they still opened up to about .80 inches and really nasty sharp edges. I don't worry about them opening if they need to be used. The whole point of using hollow point is to get the bullet to dump its energy into whatever you are shooing, if it goes thru, it takes a good measure of its energy with it. A person goes down because of one or two things when shot. 1. Massive blood loss that shuts the person down. 2. So much energy overwhelms the nervous system and shuts if off like a light. Variables exist. Drug and alcohol intake can keep someone up even after being shot 30 times. Sheer meanness can too. On the other side if a person believes strong enough any bullet can kill them, a glancing shot with a .22 will do the job. If you really worry, try a glaser safety slug, its just compressed small shot, guaranteed to open up. Dan
  10. When you manufacture millions of rounds each year even a .0001 cent per round savings adds up. And that money goes straight to the bottom line. Kinda like the few pennies added to every phone bill in the nation...after a while it adds up. Dan
  11. Story is a great example of what being a serf means versus being a citizen. I may be paranoid, but I think we are headed that way too. Dan
  12. My first choice was an officer's acp. Now got old and it hurts to much to shoot that blastgun a lot, so now I love my Springfield Armory Champion v10 stainless with integral compensation. 8 rounds as fast as you can shoot at 10 yards and you can cover all the holes with a playing card. Dan
  13. Favorite handgun ammo is federal hydrashock 45acp. After a 45, hydrashock 180grain for the 10mm.
